Stars' Hatcher Suspended One Game

Dallas Stars defenseman Derian Hatcher was automatically suspended one game by the league after being assessed his second game misconduct of the 2003 Stanley Cup playoffs.

The automatic suspension is accompanied by a $1,000 fine to the team and the money goes to the NHL Foundation.

Hatcher will miss Game 3 of the Western Conference quarterfinal series against the Oilers on Sunday and will be eligible to return for Game 4 Tuesday in Edmonton. The best-of-seven matchup is even at 1-1.

He was ejected from Game 1 for elbowing and tossed from Game 2 Friday night for being the third man into an altercation. The automatic suspension will be increased by one game for any subsequent ejection.

Hatcher has not recorded a point in the two playoff games. In 82 regular- season contests, he had eight goals and 22 assists to go along with a plus-37 rating.
