Peter Vidmar Olympic Gold Medalist
United States Gymnastics |
Peter Vidmar became a premier male gymnast for the United States at the 1984 Olympics. As USA team captain he led his teammates to their stunning gold medal victory over the Peoples Republic of China. Peter went on to win the Silver Medal in the all-around competition, making him the only American male ever to do so. With a perfect score of 10, he also captured the Gold Medal on the pommel horse. A member of the US Olympic Hall of Fame, Peter is the highest scoring US male gymnast in Olympic history.
Since his Olympic triumphs, Peter has worked as the gymnastics announcer for CBS Sports, served on the boards of USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic Committee, and has been appointed to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports as well as the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. He has become well-known as a motivator of America's top corporations and associations.
Peter now lives in California with his wife Donna, a former UCLA gymnast, and their five children. His book, Risk, Originality, and Virtuosity: the Keys to a Perfect 10, is scheduled for release in the fall of 2002.
