Browns' staff loses Fazio and Hamilton

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Two days removed from a disappointing loss in the AFC playoffs, the Cleveland Browns lost defensive coordinator Foge Fazio to retirement and fired defensive line coach Ray Hamilton.

Fazio, 63, spent the past two seasons leading the Browns' defense. He has spent 15 years coaching in the NFL, including stops with the Redskins, Vikings, Falcons and Jets. He played an integral part in leading the Minnesota defense to the 1998 NFC Championship Game.

Hamilton also spent two seasons on coach Butch Davis' staff. The 51-year-old coach came over after spending the previous four seasons as the defensive line coach for the Jets and Patriots.

Cleveland's defense was ravaged by injury this past season and featured the 27th-ranked rushing defense. The Browns blew a 17-point lead while surrendering 22 fourth-quarter points in their 36-33 loss at Pittsburgh on Sunday.
