Cleveland Indians Team Report - April 16th

From The Sports Network

(Sports Network) - Matt Lawton finished 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, as the Cleveland Indians downed the Baltimore Orioles, 8-3, in the opener of a three- game series at Jacobs Field.

Milton Bradley went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and Shane Spencer notched three hits with an RBI and a run scored for Cleveland, which has won two of its last three and improved to just 3-7 in its last 10.

Jason Davis (1-2) earned the win for Cleveland. He threw seven innings and allowed three runs on eight hits to go along with a strikeout and a walk.

Bradley extended his hitting streak to 13 games. It is the longest season- opening hitting streak for an Indian since Toby Harrah hit in 14 consecutive games to start the 1982 campaign. Ellis Burks also has a seven-game hitting streak.

Jake Westbrook will take the mound for the Indians against the Orioles today at Jacobs Field. Westbrook is 0-2 on the season in one start, but has an ERA of only 1.35. In his previous outing, Westbrook threw six strong innings, allowing one run on three hits against the Royals.

Westbrook faced the Orioles early in the season out of the Bullpen. He pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing two hits and one run in recording the loss. That was the only appearance Westbrook made against the Orioles in his career.
