Cleveland signs pitcher Stein to minor league deal

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians signed right-handed pitcher Blake Stein to a minor league contract Friday and assigned him to extended spring training.

The 29-year-old Stein was 0-4 with a 7.91 ERA in 27 games for Kansas City last season.

A five-year veteran, Stein has also spent time with Oakland. For his career, Stein has appeared in 117 games and is 21-28 with two saves and a 5.41 ERA.

Stein had his best season in 2000 while pitching for the Royals. He started 17 games and finished 8-5 with a 4.68 ERA.
