Anaheim Angels Team Report - April 16th

(Sports Network) - The Angels lost the second of a four-game set by a score of 5-4, to the Texas Rangers at the Ball Park at Arlington on Tuesday. The Angels have lost two straight after winning five in a row.

Scott Spiezio and Darin Erstad slammed solo homers for the Angels, who came into this series after sweeping Oakland in three games.

Garret Anderson smacked two hits in yesterday's loss, he is now batting .434 with 12 RBI and eight doubles.

Washburn (1-2) suffered the defeat after coming to within one inning of his first career shutout in his last outing. In this one, the lefthander allowed five runs on five hits and three walks, while striking out four in six innings.

The Angels will send John Lackey to the mound today at Arlington. Lackey is 1-1 on the year with a 6.60 ERA in three starts. In his last start, Lackey threw five innings, giving up two runs on five hits in a victory over the Athletics.

Lackey is 0-1 against the Rangers this season. He record the loss in his first outing this season, throwing five innings and allowing five runs on eight hits. In his career against Texas, Lackey is 1-2 with an ERA 5.82 in three starts.
