Tampa Bay Devil Rays Team Report - April 19th

From The Sports Network

(Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Devil Rays hope to end a four-game skid today and snap Baltimore's three-game winning streak as they continue their nine-game road trip against the Orioles.

Yesterday, the Devils Rays could not overcome an early deficit in a 9-7 loss to the Orioles in the opener of the four-game set.

Tampa Bay starter Victor Zambrano (0-2) absorbed the loss after he was rocked for eight runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out one and walked five for the Rays, who have dropped four in a row.

Rey Ordonez tied a career high by hitting his third homer of the season for Tampa. He finished with two hits and two runs batted in.

Taking the hill for the Devil Rays today will be Jorge Sosa, who will be making his first start of the season. In four appearances this season, Sosa is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA.

Earlier this season, Sosa pitched 4 1/3 innings of shutout ball against the Orioles. In his career against Baltimore, he is 0-1 with a 2.82 ERA in 22 1/3 innings.

Tampa has yielded 112 runs thus far, the most of any American League team.

Ordonez is batting .311 through 16 games and has driven in a team-high 14 runs. He has walked just once, however, and owns a .317 on base percentage.
