Minnesota Twins Team Report - April 22nd

(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Twins hope to snap a four-game losing streak tonight when they begin a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

The Twins enter Tuesday's contest on the heels of getting swept by the New York Yankees in a four-game series at the Metrodome that concluded with Monday's 15-1 rout. Rick Reed (1-3) took the loss, as he allowed 11 runs -- 10 earned - on 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings, Reed struck out four and walked three.

Dustan Mohr accounted for the Twins' only run with a solo homer. Minnesota dropped to 0-7 on the year versus the Yankees, but are 9-3 against the rest of the league.

The Twins will pin their hopes tonight on veteran lefthander Kenny Rogers, who is 2-0 on the season with a 3.50 ERA. Rogers is coming off his finest effort of the season in his last outing, a brilliant effort against the lowly Tigers. The 38-year old hurler scattered seven hits over eight scoreless innings, while striking out nine and did not walk a batter in his team's 6-0 win.

Rogers is 12-10 with a 3.54 ERA lifetime against the Royals.

Minnesota took 14 of the 19 meetings between these teams last season and posted an 8-2 mark in Kansas City. Since the start of the 2001 season the Twins are 27-11 against the Royals and are 14-5 inside Kauffman Stadium.
