Kansas City Royals Team Report - April 23

(Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals carry a perfect 9-0 home record into tonight's matchup with the Minnesota Twins in the second of three straight games between the teams.

Joe Randa launched a three-run homer and Runelvys Hernandez pitched 6 2/3 solid innings to spark Kansas City to a 4-3 win over Minnesota in the first of three games at Kauffman Stadium.

Hernandez (4-0) allowed just one run and three hits. He struck out three and overcame six walks to earn the victory for the Royals, who are off to a franchise-best 15-3 start.

Hernandez, who has permitted just four earned runs and 17 hits in 32 2/3 innings this season, had his earned run average drop to 1.10.

Chris George takes the ball tonight for the Royals and is 2-1 on the year with a 5.94 ERA. After allowing three runs over his first two starts, the 23-year- old southpaw was roughed up in his last outing against the White Sox on Thursday. He surrendered eight runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings in his first loss of the season.

George was also torched in his only start against the Twins, who reached him for six runs on seven hits over three innings.

Royals outfielder Carlos Beltran, who began the season on the DL and missed the first 14 games, is hitless in his 13 at-bats this season.

Raul Ibanez is hitting .343 this season with four home runs and 12 RBI.
