Tampa Bay Devil Rays Team Report - April 24

(Sports Network) - Marlon Anderson finished with two clutch RBI and scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to lift Tampa Bay to a 4-3 victory over Toronto in the second game of a three-game set at Tropicana Field.

Rocco Baldelli drove in the winning run and Terry Shumpert also finished with an RBI for the Devil Rays, who won the first game of this series by a 4-3 margin on Tuesday night.

Reliever Mike Venafro (1-0) struck out one in a perfect two-thirds of an inning to pick up the win, and Lance Carter then retired two batters for his third save of the season. Tampa Bay starter Victor Zambrano allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Tampa Bay placed starting outfielder Damian Rolls (thumb) and designated hitter/outfielder Ben Grieve (thumb) on the 15-day disabled list before the game.

The Devil Rays have now won two games in a row against the Blue Jays and have won five of the last six matchups against them.

Jorge Sosa will make his sixth start of the season today, as he takes on the Blue Jays in the final tilt of this three-game series from Tropicana Field. He recorded his first victory of the year last time he was on the mound, pitching five shutout innings against the Orioles last week.

Sosa (1-1) is making his third career start against Toronto and has a record of 1-1 when facing the Blue Jays. Despite his record against the Jays, Sosa has an ERA of 7.11 in his previous appearances against them and has walked six batters in just 12 2/3 innings.
