Kansas City Royals Team Report - April 26
(Sports Network) - Dan Carrasco took the loss for Kansas City after
hurling two relief innings, permitting the game-winning homer in the bottom of
the ninth of a 6-5 setback to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Kansas City, down 5-4 in the top of the ninth, tied the game when Ken Harvey
drove in Brandon Berger with a single. Berger came in to pinch-run for Brent
Mayne, who reached first on a throwing error.
Michael Tucker was 2-for-5 with a home run while Brent Mayne and Angel Berroa
also homered for the Royals, who saw their five-game winning streak snapped.
Carlos Beltran stroked two hits and drove in a run in the loss.
Darrell May started the game, but lasted just 2 2/3 innings. He allowed four
runs on five hits.
Miguel Asencio gets the call for the Royals today. Asencio is 1-0 with a 4.50
ERA in four starts for Kansas City this season.
In his last trip to the mound, Asencio failed to earn a decision versus
Detroit, allowing three earned runs on nine hits in six frames. He walked
three and struck out six.
Asencio is 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA in two career starts against the Blue Jays.
Kansas City is 6-2 in one-run games this season.
