Texas Rangers Team Report - April 26

(Sports Network) - The Rangers were defeated by the Yankees last night by a score of 3-2. Texas will look to hand the Yankees only their fifth loss of the season tonight in the second-game of a three-game set at the Ballpark at Arlington.

Texas, which had its two game winning streak snapped last night, will send newcomer Doug Davis to the mound. Davis, whose contract was purchased by the Rangers from Oklahoma in the Pacific League, will take the place of Ismael Valdes, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

The 27-year-old was 3-0 this season with Oklahoma, posting an ERA of 3.25 in four starts. Davis is 1-1 against the Yankees in his career, posting an ERA of 7.45.

Hank Blalock and Ruben Sierra each drove in runs Friday for the Rangers, who had a winning streak halted at two games.

Colby Lewis (3-1) lost for the first time this season, surrendering three runs on six hits over six innings. He walked five and struck out two.

Carl Everett has an eight-game hitting streak.

Texas has the third worst ERA in the majors (5.34).
