Seattle Mariners Team Report - April 27

(Sports Network) - The Mariners look to rebound from a 6-4 loss to the lowly Tigers in the rubber match at Safeco Field today.

Seattle will send 26-year-old Freddy Garcia to the mound. He will be making his sixth start of the season.

In his last start, the Venezuelan threw for a no-decision against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday at Safeco Field. In that outing, Garcia pitched brilliantly, working 6 1/3 innings, allowing one run on seven hits.

Garcia has gone winless in his last three starts after winning 11-2 over the Rangers in Arlington on April 6.

Last night, Ben Davis had a two-run homer and John Olerud added three hits and an RBI for the Mariners, who saw their five-game winning streak snapped. Edgar Martinez also had three hits for Seattle, which committed two errors in the loss.

Ryan Franklin (1-2) absorbed the loss, permitting five runs -- four earned -- and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings.
