Rangers to remove Kreuter from roster

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers will remove catcher Chad Kreuter from the active roster. He was informed Sunday that he will no longer will be with the team.

An official roster move is expected Tuesday.

Kreuter made the club out of spring training after being signed as a non- roster player. He was batting just .111 with two hits in 18 at-bats over seven games.

The 38-year-old veteran began his career with Texas in 1988 and has also played for Detroit, Seattle, the Chicago White Sox, Anaheim, Kansas City and Los Angeles. He has a career .237 average with 54 homers and 274 RBI in 944 big league games.
