Texas Rangers Team Report - April 30

(Sports Network) - Juan Gonzalez and Carl Everett each hit two homers to lead Texas past Toronto, 16-11, in the first of a three-game set before a sellout crowd at SkyDome.

Alex Rodriguez and Todd Greene also homered for the Rangers, who have won a franchise-best nine straight games versus the Blue Jays. Rodriguez finished with four hits, three RBI and three runs scored after going 5-for-5 with six runs batted in during a 10-7 win over the Yankees on Sunday.

John Thomson (2-2) earned his second American League win, despite allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks in just five innings.

Rosman Garcia and Esteban Yan allowed six earned runs in their combined 2 2/3 innings of relief work for the Rangers.

Francisco Cordero allowed just one hit and struck out two, helping him record his first save of the year.

Texas will send righthander Ryan Drese to the mound today. In his most recent outing, Drese went just two innings after allowing four runs on five hits in a non-decision start.

Drese (1-1) will make just his third career start against the Blue Jays today. In his previous outings against them, Drese has a record of 1-1 and an ERA of 4.05.
