Texas Rangers Team Report - May 1

(Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers go for their first series sweep of the season on Thursday when they battle the Toronto Blue Jays in the final game of their three-game set at SkyDome.

The Rangers have won their last three games and have reached double-digits in runs in each of the contests. Most recently, Juan Gonzalez had three hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in three runs and Michael Young added a three-run shot, as the Rangers rolled to an 11-3 victory over Toronto on Wednesday.

Young finished with three hits and four RBI Wednesday for the Rangers, who have beaten the Blue Jays 10 straight times, including seven in a row at SkyDome.

Texas starter Ryan Drese went six innings to secure the win. Drese (2-1) allowed two runs -- one earned -- on seven hits and five walks while striking out four.

Tonight, the Rangers will give the ball to Colby Lewis, who will face Toronto for the first time in his career. Lewis is 3-1 with a 4.45 ERA this season, but suffered his first loss of the season in his last outing.

Against the Yankees on Friday, the righthander took the loss after allowing three runs on six hits in six innings of work. He walked five and struck out two.

Rafael Palmeiro needs three more home runs to reach 500 for his career and nine RBI to reach 1,600.

Carl Everett has 10 RBI in his last six games for the Rangers, who lead the majors with 50 home runs.
