Fan violence causes A's to change alcohol policy

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - The Athletics announced on Thursday that the Oakland Coliseum will no longer serve alcoholic drinks after the seventh inning due to recent actions by fans.

The new policy, which will begin at the team's next home game on Tuesday, is in response to a 21-year-old fan biting the finger of an Oakland police officer inside an elevator.

Just one week before, an A's fan threw a cell phone from the bleachers onto the field and struck Texas outfielder Carl Everett. Stadium officials feel that too much drinking contributed to the misbehavior.
