Kansas City Royals Team Report - May 4

(Sports Network) - The suddenly-slumping Kansas City Royals will try to put aside their struggles this afternoon, when they face the Baltimore Orioles in the last of their three-game set at Camden Yards.

Lefthander Chris George will head to the mound for the Royals today. In his last outing, the 23-year-old was defeated at Fenway Park by the Red Sox. In that contest, George went only 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on six hits.

George has faced the Orioles twice in his career, losing both appearances. He has allowed eight runs in 10 1/3 innings against the Orioles, posting an ERA of 6.97.

Last night, Raul Ibanez had a sacrifice fly for Kansas City, which has lost five of its last six games. Runelvys Hernandez (4-1) suffered his first loss of the season. He gave up four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits over seven innings.

First baseman Mike Sweeney has reached base in his last 10 games. Sweeney also has two home runs and four RBI in his last three games.

The Royals are just 1-8 against Baltimore dating back to last season.
